Kar 98b S28 bolt

I’m new to the forum and need advice. I recently purchased a K98k (dot 1944) that was a bring back. It had a mismatched bolt. Upon close inspection, it was an all matching Kar 98b bolt ( I assume) because it had WWI markings and “S28” stamped on almost all parts. It’s a part of my rifle’s story, yet I have no idea about it’s value as a stand alone piece. Any ideas?

Hello Robyoung20,
The S28 rifle is a bit of an enigma. It was produced during the Weimar era concurrently with the 98b rifles to deceive inspectors during the armastice. Very few rifles have survived, most are simply barreled receivers. There are about 6 known examples in various stages of completion. Parts are also scarce.
I am fortunate enough to have an all matching S28 rifle that is missing a bolt, if you would be willing to part with it please let me know. As a stand alone part it is only valuable to the very few people who have need of it. It would certainly be more at home in my rifle than in yours. We can talk if you are interested.Thyssengrump@bellsouth.net
Best regards, Rick
