SVT40 Izhevsk 1941

Bigdibbs88

"Ach du lieber!"
Picked this up a few months ago by pure luck. Izhevsk made SVT's seem to be quite a bit more difficult to locate than Tula's. Non import marked and non-refurbished, this one is a bolt assembly mismatch- everything else matches. A bit strange. The bolt and bolt carrier match each other and are also izhevsk oddly enough. This came back with an ancient wwii era m1 carbine sling on it. The bayonet is a non-refurb Izhevsk as well which I bought last year.

Very nice rifle! Made in May of 1941. Yes Izhevsk is very tough to find. Thanks for sharing.

Svt40

That is a really good looking rifle. It looks like a pre-68 Finnish import. I have owned three over the last 30 years. I still have two of them both Izhevsk, a 40 and a 41. I don't remember what the other one was. What I have noticed with mine is even though they are mostly miss matched parts they are mostly Izhevsk parts maybe a Tula band or some small part but not much else. I traded the other one for a Winchester M1 Carbine back in the late 70s.
