Hi,New to the Forum,I recently purchased a 1916 Fichtel and sachs Butcher Bayonet and scabbard at a yard sale near me.This came with a story of the history of how family came into possession of it .It has been with family since 1918 when it was captured, along with Mauser, which unfortunately,at some point, was stolen. This had been hidden in rafters of house for 50 years since 1918.Once retrieved, passed down to different generations.People I purchased from, had no interest in it,and were put off by the macabre element of it,That being,IT HAS 1916-1918 blood on it. If pictures loaded correctly,I have tried showing this. Not sure if blood has helped preserve it,but it is in my opinion,in incredible condition for age.My questions are... What would be approximate value? The blood has no significance to me,it is part of that family's story,Should I clean it?
It in very good condition, handle wood nice, scabbard has some small dings. Thanks for any help or info you can offer.View attachment 18View attachment 180705View attachment 1807060704[/ATTACH]View attachment 180705View attachment 180706
