I just got a mint 1940 K98 bayonet and it came with a troddel that I haven't been able to identify.

Do you guys have any ideas?

Thank you,
Steve

I would proof a ultraviollet light test firstly, as the piece looks like a storage, never used, or minimum use. When real so the knot color could be changed the color in years? How is stamped the S84/98 bayonet, any additional pictures? thanks.b.r.Andy

I took quick pictures as I was running out of the house this morning.
It is a 1940 WKC matching, unsharpened, no dents in the scabbard.

Thanks
steve

I`m no expert but the troddle could be for the schutzenregimenter 6 ( rifle regiment 6). You can google the regiment and there will be a history.

Don´t think so.
It could be a troddle for a third batallion, because of the golden or yellow "Stengel", but probably a repro from here:https://www.hessenantique.com/Army_Model_p/2119201.htm
To identify the troddle you have to take the photos outside without flash or direct sunlight. And please show us also pics from the eye.

Trodell looks like very light grey so when real it could be dress knot. Its looks unissued. b.r.Andy
