Crack or scratch?

I recently got this rifle and noticed a crack or scratch from the back of the action to the sling cut-out. My question is, is this common with laminated stocks and does it look like a crack? A crack wouldn't go across several layers of laminate and would follow the grain structure. Definitely a scratch.
