I picked this up today at a rural auction. Supposedly, unknown to the family and found it in the attic floor boards preparing for the auction. The father was an ETO vet, in the US Army artillery.
matching barrel and receiver and from a quick review most everything else is not matching to the receiver. interesting the front site was slotted for a hood. Stock was a pleasant surprise, however duffle cut. Trigger guard is a "byf", double 135, unserialed, with a serialed waffen 655 floor plate.
The muzzle cap is also very interesting, appears phosphate and numbered, I need to clean it and see if proofed.
A few quick photos before I disassemble and soak in diesel.
