Picked this up recently. Obviously a bringback, as it has the soldier's name and the 7th Army logo on one grip and the 9th Army logo on the other. Serial number dates it to approximately 1917.
So, based on his unit affiliations, you know the soldier would have likely picked up the Dreyse in the ETO during WW2, maybe Mediterranean, Italy, or Germany. Pretty cool.
