This WW1 era bayonet was awarded on 18 August 1917 as first prize in a shooting competition to the First Battalion, 162nd Infantry Regiment (3rd Hanseatic) Lubeck/Oldenburg Landwehr (L.O.L) .
This battalion earned first place, the Kaiser’s Prize, in marksmanship in the Prussian Army in 1905, 1906 and 1913.
August 1917 found this battalion resting and refitting in the rear along the Siegfried line (Siegfriedstellung) after the battle of Arras (April-May 1917). In mid September 1917 they were returned to the trenches at the front.
Photo shows members of the Lubeck/Oldenburg Landwehr receiving their EK 2s.

Early WKC bayonet, looks interesting mostly for the Shootprice with so late date. The securing strap on frog is probably a added by owner? Is not typical on that frogs. b.r.Andy

The strap looks original to the frog.

Great and historic piece. Agree with Andrej that the retention strap on the frog was period added. The scabbard appears original to the bayonet and was also made by WKC. Thanks for posting .....

Schiesspreis?

So it could be Oldenburg in Holstein, but still there is another little problem with this piece.
The word "Schiesspreis" is not in the right German orthography for 1917, it should be written "Schießpreis".
And normaly those prices were given to: "Dem besten Schützen" which means: the best shooter.
Regards
