First looks can be deceiving when determining whether a VZ24 was ever in German use.....

From just a few feet away this gun looks 100% Czech

One of the cooler Vz.24 mods I've seen and I have a special interest in them. Great etched serial parts and markings. Thanks for posting Dave. Pic sticky for ref.

Definitely one of the cooler ones. Interesting how they stamped the bore diameter on the receiver. This is a nice one!

Great rifle Dave. Really minimal German influence on this. That lumber is gorgeous too! I'd guess this went very early annexation, no?

I'd seen others before including another '31 piece that was much more Germanized. Rear swivel removed with sling slot. No take down discs but extensive stamped rather than etched numbering. Hambone had/has a similar piece to that one. Quite an interesting topic!

Modified VZ-24s are very interesting rifles to explore. I have a 1926 one which shows minimal modifications, just the removal of the left side sling point and the magazine holds open on empty. Mine doesn't have numbering on the small parts, blued bolt, depot marks, or was re-barreled. Maybe the one I have was issued before the memos were issued and the modifications were done in the field while yours was sent to Spandau.

Wow Dave, that's a damned nice rifle! Awesome markings, love the Spandau depot markings! I guess we know where this one was modified.

Hey Craig, would it make sense to maybe make one pic sticky just for various German modded VZ-24's? It would be nice to see them all in one thread....It could easily be a completely viable collecting subset for sure, so much variety...

Very nice for sure. There are a bunch of German captured Yugoslav Model 1924's that have the same etching on bolt and other smaller components.

I agree the modifications seem endless / If it's okay I will post a link to the subject ;

Very nice indeed! My German modded Vz.23 also has most of the bolt components etched (electropencilled?) to match. There's also a number on the bolt root but it's hard to see in the glare.
