This is one of the coolest groupings I own, very lucky to be its steward. This is a direct relative purchase. I have very few groupings with photos of the soldier that brought them back, so it is very special when I find one. Sgt Menefee was part of the 268th Signal Heavy Construction Company. I believe this was part of the XV Corps, who were attached to the First, Third and Seventh Armies depending on the date. The Sgt was awarded a Bronze star and interestingly his citation was not for a single event, but rather multiple events under fire. The Bronze Star citation has the seal of the XV Corps embossed. He was also awarded 5 battle stars for participation in the following campaigns: Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Germany. He was drafted and enlisted in November of 1941, so he served the entirety of the US involvement in the war. Pistol is a full rig, AC44 A block with 44 dated holster, pistol and 2 correct Walther magazines. I am guessing that this is exactly as issued to whoever he got it from. Grouping includes his bronze star and good conduct medal. There is also a chrome parade bayonet. I think I am going to send this info in to golden arrow and see if I can learn more about his service. Thanks for looking! Also, please ignore the glare from the lamination. The family did this to preserve his documents. I considered removing them, but the risk of damage is too great.
