Are there any databases linking the 1908 DWM serial numbers tomanudacture dates? Mine is Serial number 2989 with “Bb” underneath. Bottom of barrel and receiver has the number 62 on them.

Jon Speed sent me a series of emails regarding the Brazilian contract, it ended in 1914, - Jon also stated that Mauser received a large Turk contract in 1914 for 200,000 rifles, but it was canceled due to the beginning of the war. He even has the contract signed by Kosegarten (signed by Loewe also, though not sure who exactly... Isidor died in 1910 and the letter is dated January 1914, perhaps Kosegarten for Loewe).

Paul ,The first Brazil Mauser carbines and rifles made in Oberndorf started in 1907 and went on through just before start of WW1 in small batches spread out over this period. Mauser Oberndorf also provided extra parts for the Brazil 1908 rifles made by DWM who handled 80% of the whole original deal . In 1913 Mauser Oberndorf got a deal for 100,000 Brazil 1908 models and completed the deal just before WW1. DWM made made at least 200,000 Brazil 1908 rifles and carbines from 1908-1914. Regards, Jon
