Single Claw BNZ

Waffenamt stamps with letters are not uncommon, easy ones like WaA80 ring a bell? That's Brünn II, or WaC10 on K43 stocks. How about WaAD20 - on French Pistols? It's hard to believe because you probably don't pay close attention to anything that isn't sniper related, that isn't your fault but you just like that stuff, it's impossible to know it all. I have the benefit that I HAD to look at everything, or at least a lot of stuff.

Here's Clause's list, go to the bottom for all of the A* - D* waffenamts listed, you will see "D36" is listed as bnz Steyr barrel.

They used a WaAD20 stamp on German occupation French MABs, French Uniques, Spanish Astras, and Spanish Star pistols. Also on holsters for the above pistols. Pistols are the only place I have personally seen the WaAD mark.

Go to page 78 to see all the WaA D marked items.

I see Mike responded in the time it took me to write this. Sorry for being redundant.

Ok, good news. We will have a new photo soon, sometime after the Max show.

I got a few photos of 163H (1943 early gun I am told and matched optics, armorer bolt with some original parts) and 7757G. They were taken in a hurry and may be a bit mixed up. On the barrel stamp, a couple pictures are pretty clear.

Not sure why I can not get to my pics, with new windows wonder files, but so far I can only get one.

Nice rifle! That sure is clear! I still can’t even quite tell what I’m seeing though. I spoke with Steve F. last weekend, I think he mentioned this serial.

I am having a fit with attachments?? This is never happened? The new windows update put stuff in a new "photos" file, not pictures? I have a bunch but can not attach them.

another try, no 163h

Another try starting with 163h.

Moral here, do not leave your leather lens covers on your scope, as the strap was over the serial number for many years. Covers are fine and stored elsewhere.

Thanks for sharing pictures of your rifle Mike. I was thinking yours would be a good one to look at since it is an early example.

Another try and then maybe I can move on to 7757. Too large of files but look small to me, like 300kb.

Four at a time seems to work.

A few of the two together, 163 h, matching except bolt body and cocking piece which are armorer? replaced.

More to come on both and 7757.

Attempt a few of 7757g, matching rifle, not optics, cleaned matching stock, amazing metal.

Mix that I think I missed but may be repeats.

Sorry for doubles and/or the mixed bag. If metal is rougher and near new, it is likely the later rifle. If not so nice of metal and darker stock, it is 163.

Nice rifles Mike. Maybe I'll add pictures of mine and we can make this the "Single Claw" thread. You have to own one to be a part of the club.
