G41 (W) Early One

I thought I would make my first post on the K98k forum a good one. Rifle is missing the bayonet lug, anyone know if bayonet lugs on these are serial numbered, and has a repo sling.
All matching and really nice finish showing just some age bumps and nicks here and there.

Bayo mount wasn't numbered, there is a duv 214 marked mount on eBay right now that would do the job. Finding original g41 parts, Walther or BLM are not easy to locate. Original cleaning rods and slings can be found on this forum. Good luck

Trigger guard, bolt, lugs ect. That would
Be great.
Strange it's missimg the bayo lug and not a sportered rifle.
Maybe back in the day when pres. clinton and others determined
That bayonet lug = "crazy person rifle"
It was removed.

I am going to say the bayo lug on yours was numbered. I have in my notes that G.41 (W) ac#7153 is where the “all numbered parts” started to be eliminated as well as the “(W)”.

Remember though that the “(W)” rifles were field trials guns and pressed into service so all kinds of little oddities have been noted on these. Not a lot of oddities, but just some here and there.

I don’t see the e/S firing proof on the receiver. Could you check the back left side of your receiver for an e/N stamp? There have been a couple noted and these are thought to have been destined to the SS. Yours is kind of close to reported ones like that. But those also didn’t have the “(W)” or “ac” stamp either, so I was just curious on yours and maybe barking up the wrong tree.

Scarce rifle. The bayonet lug could have been removed as part of the vet mail home. A K98k stock doesn't require a dufflecut to be the same length as the barreled action with the lug removed. The G.41 stock may be different. Also, as a field trials rifle who knows. Nice piece look forward to more pics.
 
Please do that gorgeous rifle a favor and get a real sling!!!!!!!!!! they run about $100
 
Great rifle, but get rid of that painted repro sling, or at least remove the extra loop - this rifle deserves far better!!!

Sorry I haven't had time take more pics and post them. Have been right in the middle of selling our house and getting ready for our
collector's show here on the coast. I will post more pics soon.
