ce43 Time Capsule

That's a great find Bruce, it's the best condition which I have ever seen! I look forward to the other photos.

@tsmgguy
It's a "d" block.

Very pretty rifle...Something looks odd about the stock to me though, the stain/topcoat looks a lot like the Norwegian one applied to their capture rifles. And above and beyond that, the spillover of stain onto the take-down disc and the recoil lug seems very uncharacteristic of German rifles to me, I see it a lot more on Norwegian captures. I've only ever seen a darker oil on the take-down disc of original rifles, if anything. Makes sense if the Norwegians restained with all the hardware on, whereas I would be inclined to think Germany did all the stock work without the metal hardware.

Maybe I haven't seen enough original unaltered k98ks, but it still looks weird..None of the JPS rifles in the pic sticky had similar stain spillovers.
Thoughts or clarification?

Edit: maybe this is the sealing wax/grease and I have just never seen a rifle with so much. Apologies if so!
