Walther PP Rig, My First PP!

EOD - bombs and bullets
Well, this week I found a couple of really nice pistols to pick up. I am not usually a pistol guy, I seem to tend to gravitate to the long guns, but I had to get these especially considering the prices on them.

So, being broke, I figured pull out some trade, so I dusted off a couple of AR's....I have others, and I figure in Texas, I have my choice of a couple of hundred AR's of all flavors at any big gun show...they are easily replaced if needed....

So first up is a PP rig...actually I just paid for the pistol, and the extra mag and holster were thrown in....

The gun is super nice I think, matching, nice shape, Heer issue PP....from s/n my research says it is 1942 production. It came with the flat bottom mag, which seems to be original WWII, and they threw in the finger extension mag, which I think is post war, but looks good!

The holster I am not sure...looks German, except stud is brass, but it fits it perfectly. There are no markings anywhere on it that I can find. In any case it works, at least for now.

First PP I ever owned, always wanted one though...like them much more than the PPK's. I had the choice of several, including a nice late war blanko ac marked one, but it was mismatched. The other Army issue wasn't as nice. Clay scored a really nice late war at the same place, and the guy saved one for himself...he showed it to me...a beautiful 5th variation SS issue gun....

I had enough credit after this one and the other I picked up to leave a deposit on a German Hi-Power too...that one will be in lay away jail for a little though....

Did I pick good for my first PP?

Sure looks like you got a nice one and the bluing looks decent too. Like to find one of these myself. What was the asking price if I may inquire?

They had $750 on the pistol, and threw in the holster and spare mag in the trade...

ETA I think I did ok...from looking at prices on GB...this was one of the highest priced PP's they had, they figured it was more expensive since it had the Army acceptance's...the late war mismatched for example they have marked at $500...

Sounds like you did very well for one in this condition. Thanks for sharing with us.

Very handsome rig with just a bit of honest high holster wear. I thought I'd just read somewhere they were supplied with 1 flat bottom and 1 finger base mag?

Like I said, I am not a pistol guy really, so my knowledge base isn't big...according to some of the threads I read on Jan Still's forums, any Military contract PP's were issued with two flat base mags, finger base mags were private purchase upgrades. And I don't know if guys could just purchase the bases and swap them, or they had to buy the whole mag?

Private purchase guns of course could be purchased with any mag combo the buyer wanted....

Takedown on these is ridiculously simple too...

late war pp

Most of your C block PP are mismatched. They came out of the factory after the capitulation .
Traded for Cigarette's matching the frame and slide was not important at the time.
Nice score.
