Rough but matched, another TT-33

flynaked

Repo Field Gear Collector
This is more like the condition these seem to pop up in, good and rough but matched to the mag again. Traded for this one at Tulsa, he probably technically got the better end of the deal, but we both got something we wanted. Traded a postwar pistol that was a mag m/m that was in way better condition but I would rather have this wartime TT with a matched mag so we made the trade. Also one of the grips is postwar need to get a wartime one.

Thanks, yeah even as rough as it is I like it a lot. Excellent is nice and all but can grow to be kind of boring at times, I often like a true combat looking gun better  Starting up a small Russian collection right now.

t looks good to my eyes. Personally, I prefer historic firearms with patina. I'd rather they helped make History than just pass through it. I only have one TT-33 (a 1940) and I wouldn't trade it for one with zero wear:

FN, still a cool pistol. It shows the damage caused by the pistol being stored in its leather holster on its side. If temperature changes caused condensation it would pool on the side it was laying on and cause that. Tanning salts in the leather would accelerate corrosion which wouldn't take long. The same could have been caused by the pistol being in a holster on its owner's body for a couple days.

OP I agree on the wartime experience and I'd have made that trade too. Wilhelm, that pat-in-a is faboulous IMHO.

Thanks guys!

Well said and I tend to agree, I love guns with some kind of discernible marks or wear that tell some kind of story of its useage. One of my favorites of the kind, this grenade launcher Sauer!

I like that TT33 ! Patina and all. Many of these have that rode-hard-put-away-wet look...... Part of their history.

I won this one at an auction several years ago with a phone very low phone in bid. It was the kind of auction with mostly art and furniture. No one else bid on the gun and holster, probably because of the terrible pictures (2) and poor description. When I went to pick it up, they could not find the magazines. I had to wait for almost a half hour while they called a lady who had the day off who was in charge of gun storage. I was just about ready to tell them to mail them to me if they found them when they located them. Imagine my surprise when they located two matching magazines. It's a 1939 gun.

Talk about a hard find! Very nice grab on that one! Scotty had one with 2 matched mags on his table for $5600 :googlie

$5600? Holy Smokes. I bought this one a few years back. It's a Vietnam bring back without the paper work. The vet told me they found a cache of weapons wrapped in canvas, buried. That would explain the unique rust pattern on the gun. It only has one matching magazine.
I assume that the Chinese ones with a matching magazine more common? If I'm out of line posting this, please delete it.

No please post away, a forum is boring when no one posts anything, thanks for doing so :happy0180:

That’s gotta be uncommon! I don’t follow them close to know one way or the other but I just bought 3 Chinese and all had m/m mags so thats some kind of idea! Haha. Here’s the last one:

You know seeing all these pictures posted makes me miss my tt-33! It was not a bring back but it had no Imports stamps on the pistol and it was brought in the country around 2001. The gentleman that was bringing them into the States was getting them out of Germany he actually broke some laws with the ATF and he was shut down. The ones he did get here collectors bought them up as fast as you could get them they were less than $300. To be honest they were import stamped but it was under the grips where you did not see it.
