It’s not rare, not by any means. Bid war between new guys? Am I missing something?

Strange is the serialing on bayonet? most real done by hand which is unusual by 44asw, otherway a normal early 44asw. b.r.Andy
PS is possible the numbering mashine was sidely lose not so tight as on later production, visible in e, f ranges.

Based on the two photos IMHO we are looking at a $250.00 bayonet max. Something unusual about the frog perhaps? The only other thing that might account for the price is "auction fever" between two bidders. If you have the item#, look at the bid history and see if everyone else dropped out before the thing reached $200. or so. As the saying goes, Fools and their money are soon parted.
