Picked up this G code K98. Serial numbers are all matching from what I’ve found. Enjoy!

Welcome! Awesome rifle to enter with  Has the rear sight slide been updated? I think the stock has been a little messed with but not too much, I don’t think anyone would pass it up for that. Not easy to find a matching 35, congrats!

Thanks I’m going to get better photos later and more even. The rear sight slide has the same serial number and stamping as the rest of the rifle. :)

Sorry I didn’t mean replaced, I meant simply updated, the slides were ground shorter. I think yours
is original but I’d have to compare another to be sure myself. The G date I used to have was updated I’ll have to see if I can find the pictures to compare, just a small detail that’s interesting to trend.

Ah I see!!!

Congrats to your new Sauer & Sohn! Your G date is the 3rd variant and was produced in the "c block.

Your rear sight slide is the early version, around mid 1936 they changed it to the new version where the rear sight slide was 2mm longer on the right side. On May 23, 1936 came out a order from the Army High Command, that the rear sight slide lock bar should get shortened at the already produced (at the troops, in the HZa and running production) K98k. The reason was better adjustment of the sight of the K98k with the right hand, according to the regulations of H. Dv. 130/2a.
Your rifle got reworked, like ordered from the Army High Command.

Regards,
Stephan
