Here are 4 rifles with factory errors... some corrected, some not...

Example 1

I knew Steyr became an error prone disaster but didn't realize they had issues at this level. I suppose they all became more error prone as the war dragged on and production pressure increased. It looks like only 1 upside down numeral though on the rear band.

If you've spent any time stamping numbers, it is pretty easy to do! Pressure or not....

Shop I used to work at I would spend 10-12 hours a day machining die details. Every detail got stamped with the die number, part number, revision, material, heat treat spec, and any special notes. That often added up to 20-30 characters. In the course of the day you might machine any number of details and hammer a LOT of stamps. I seriously doubt anyone did NOT screw up at least one stamp a day. Some of those guys screwed up several.... I know I averaged at LEAST one or two a day.

Frankly.... I am surprised we don't see if more

In the first example they didn't bother matching the guts, only the body.
