    Default Your First Mauser?

Seeing a recent post gave me this idea. How many of you still have your first Mauser?

I do. Despite my recent majority sell off, one of the three that I kept was my very first. DOT44 5-digit a-block, post-war rework, stamped renumbered to match, built from three different rifles (bolt/action/stock)

Cost me $100 in 1995. Cost nearly three times that for a cleaning rod, bayonet, sling, and German sight hood (came with a VZ24) 10 years later. Not the most accurate one I've had (better since i shimmed it), but still good enough.

    Nice dot!
I still have my first. A Spanish my father gave me a couple weeks before he took me on my first deer hunt. Got a nice little doe that season!
Still have my first 98k he turned me on to at a show he was working several years later. A sportered '38 S147 that I dropped into a norge stockset. My son will get it in my will.
In thanks for you all in the forums, I offer this, albeit small:
If anyone has any questions regarding garage doors and openers, feel free to ask. Been working on them for 25 years.

I still have my first two, one a beat up ugly Chinese manufactured K98 and the other a pristine Swedish Mauser, 1899 Oberndorf M96.

I still have my first one, purchased in 1977. A 1941 bnz, all matching, duffle cut under rear band. Price, $112 including original sling and sight hood.

I still have an s/237 1938 K98k. It was on sale in Woolworths. Very worn, but all matching apart from the bolt.

Someone out there has my first, a mostly matched, yet cleverly bubba'd byf41 4810v. Craig Brown looked at it face to face and highlighted the 4-5 non original things. I was heartbroken thinking I had the "real deal". Sold it back to the LGS 2 years later for a profit and after a few months passed one of the owners said " hey, that 98 had some issues you didn't disclose" .. lol, I said "imagine that"..

I had to re-read that. Yeah, you forgot to tell him. Sounds like a lot of 'dealers'

Yep that would be father's matching 1940 243. Bought a BYF 44 mix-matcher for $200 back in 95 for a shooter. Sold but made $150 in the deal 3 years later.

Still have my first, sold it twice and got it back both times. It's super nice.
