My name is Chris and I am new to Kar98k's and WWII era weapons. I just purchased my first two Kar98k's and wanted to turn to you guys, the experts, to gain more information. The below link are the two I purchased. I would like help in understanding the difference between the two, where to find this information, and why I paid such a big price difference. Any direction, guidance, or help is appreciated. Thank you and I look forward to learning from everyone.

the "dot" rifle is more original than the other, which is (the bcd) a Russian capture/ refurbished rifle. The dot was made by the Germans in a Czech factory that the Germans "annexed", and is a bolt mm rifle, but otherwise looks pretty decent.

Search Brunn I for more info about the dot.

Search Russian Capture for more info on the bcd's history.

Look at the reference section here to learn more about righteous rifles =>

Also, there are nice chapters on each of the makers here...

Welcome! as said above Bob has some good information there. Both rifles looks pretty nice for what they are. Rifles like the dot (being mostly matching) command a premium over rifles like the bcd (being totally refurbished with mis matched numbers).

When you get them both and compare you will understand.
