1942 byf RC K98

I fully realize that RC K98's are not everyone's thing, but I really like them. They have their own history and they have seen some horrific things although now they are mostly range toys.

I found this one locally being offered for trade. I found a rifle I had about $470 in and we agreed to trade. This is one of the nicer RC's I have seen. Great rifling. I look forward to taking it to the range as soon as it warms up a bit.

Oh, also, thank you for adding me to the forum. I have lots to learn.

I love the history behind Russian captures. Makes them cheaper too so I don't complain about that either.

Here in VA, RCs go for $700+. Not a bad deal for a shooter.

Nice rifle. I have a byf 42 "YC" (Yugo captured !) K98k and it gives me plenty of pleasure, both visually and at the range. Yours is much more original than mine, though, as barrel and receiver were part of the same rifle and still have their "war eagles".
Enjoy it for what it is - it is not just a "shooter" but a rifle that bears witness to the history of Europe : first as a Nazi rifle, and then as a Cold War rifle.

RCs keep creeping up in price but there's always other locales a vet bring back bolt mismatch for not much more.

My RC has a walnut stock with the shellac peeled off. Stock is worth almost as much as the metal.
