    Xavier , IMHO its an SS SSR , I have a number of period pics showing stocks with finger groove stocks . Great Photo . Thanks for sharing it .

    I'm still trying to figure out why a sniper would be carrying a bayonet not to mention that looks like a white plastic bag on his belt. Or is it just me.

    Where did you acquire this pic? Looks like a rough scan or pic from a TV.

    Guy in question doesn't seem sloppy enough for reenactor imo.

    Picture looks real to me. I thought it looked like a SS SSR.

    I have a SS SSR Sniper photo and the Sniper also has a Bayonet . I do not find it strange that a sniper has a Bayonet . Bayonets were Standard Issue .

    Thats a personal item drawstring bag, usually used for organization in rucksacks or whatever. Original ones I've seen have been in a light tan or beige like the gebirgsjager windjacket.
    I imagine that's what it is, correct me if I'm wrong.

    I only know this from Luftwaffe training units.

    Not sure about the camo field cap. Two grommets (vent holes)??
