All serial numbers on the rifle aside of bolt and barrel root are white inlaid. In the book exactly the barrel root markings are white inlaid. I don‘t like it, mainly for this and the non-serialized bolt (looks ground).

It says right in the book that it went through rearsenaling. I am not worried at all about the bolt. The firing pin is unnumbered also.

Is there a death head in the grip area? The Backbone Book had some errors.

Trying to understand why the numbers on the barrel are no longer white.

Those markings are made white with a white wax pencil. It is just so the numbers stand out in the black and white photo. The white wax is easily removed. People use all types of stuff to make markings stand out. Chalk, crayon whatever. Now a days, with nice color photos, we do not need it as much to see the markings.

That is the least of your worries with validating a rifle like this.
