Just because it's been in a private collection for over 20 years does not disqualify a rifle with problems. I personally have seen rifles, and I've been told by other dealers. I've had this gun for 40 years. And looking at it the bolt was bad and the stock was cleaned but they guarantee it was original. This dealer may be your friend or an old acquaintance for many years but at the end of the day he's going to make money regardless.

Over the years if I see a rifle that I keep questioning myself on trying to make it 100% percent legit. Trying to convince yourself that it's real and going against your instincts is not going to help in the end.

Trying to get it much cheaper. Explained everything to him.I offered 2k and feel ok at that. We will see what happens. I am also trying to do a double deal with a G43.

I passed on it and he sold it to another collector who I do not know. Going to be interesting if that person shows up on here with " Hi guys, I am new and I just scored this SS rifle".....lol
On the brighter side I did grab the G43 that was on the wall in the back of the pics......

Farb lied to you when he said not all rifles in laws book are not correct. I purchased one of the rifles in laws book myself on gunbroker several years back and Farb was wrong. My rifle will fire 8mm even though it's marked 7.92 on the barrel. we all know the Germans used 8mm and not 7.92.

^^^^^ That was a joke just in case you couldn't tell. my rifle was/is WRONG and it's in the book. I myself still think it's adds some value because it's in the book, not much but some.

You were lucky you came on here before you purchased that rifle. I came on here after my purchase and found 8 or 9 pages of why it was wrong and the rifle is/was wrong. Most people today don't know the difference in a jap type 99 or a k98 unless they have some experience with them. So imagine back when laws book was written with no internet and instant access to information.

Wish I'd checked before I went full retard.
