    Default Greetings from #straya

Hi guys, first post here. Picked up a 1940 Russian capture in relatively good condition recently. The bore is immaculate and shoots well.

Its just the organic component that lets it down

Welcome to the forum. Don't worry, the wood still looks to be in decent shape. Its just the red shellac that is flaking off. Good score.

    By organic, i meant me
Really wouldn't mind stripping it down and giving the timber a bit of love

I hate to ask a potentially silly question here (and yes i did search for an answer but nothing jumped out at me) but what do you mean by e/4 proofed barrel?

The barrel has WaA4 proofs on the barrel, indicating bSw proofing. The bSw manufacturer is my preferred maker of k98's. Not sure how that barrel ended up on and serial numbered to this RC rifle but it has my interest. You say it's a 1940 rifle. Though bSw ceased production in 1939 so it would appear a leftover barrel was used on that receiver. What is the manufacturer code?
