Mauser-Werke 320?

I bought this at a local gun auction years ago and basically forgot about it until going through some cases in the corner...

It’s a bolt mismatch but the bolt, to the firing pin, matches itself. It’s missing the sight hood and a stock/action screw....the only thing I was able to find locally was the hex-head cap screw.....I would love to find a hood and a proper screw.

The serial number is: 146445 and the bolt is: 5331....there is the letter ‘D’ on the bottom of the bolt handle. I did not remove the action from the stock because I don’t think it ever has been as the receiver ‘pillars’ are pressed into a plate and I didn’t want to disrupt it.

I really don’t know exactly what I have here and was hoping some of you knowledgeable individuals might help me out as to what model it is and what it may be worth. It’s not for sale but I’m trying to catalog things....none of us will make it out alive. ;)

Your rifle is a Mauser model ES 340B.

Thank you, I haven’t shot it but look forward to it.....I’ll leave it out of the corner. ;)

Anything else like approximate manufacture date, value, parts availability (action screw/sight hood) , etc., would be greatly appreciated.

Your rifle was made between 1934 and 1939 (per the proof marks.)
The value is hurt somewhat by the mismatched breech bolt; its real value will be as a shooter. All of the B Model Mauser rifles I own are very accurate.

Spare parts are very hard to come by. The sight hoods especially appear to have simply vanished into thin air. 90% of these rifles I see are missing the sight hood. And frankly, the sight picture is usually better without the hood---- which may be why most of them are absent.

Shoot & enjoy!

All the best---

Mauser 340

The sight hood is the same as a French MAS 45 , 22 rifle. The 340s are great rifles. Banjomike
