AR 41 Evaluation

Hello, Im looking at picking up an AR 41 H block. From what I can tell the metal looks good, not humped. Im a little questionable on the stock and if it's been sanded or not, what do you guys think? The seller states there is no serial # on the wrist, only a faint Waa 26.

Thanks.

It looks like good, honest carry/use wear. Best to remove the sling and look at the edges of the sling and bolt cut outs. As well as close up inspection of the cross bolt area on both sides. Markings look really weak on the right/butt but laminates often don't hold markings well. Markings on the bottom and wrist should be evident as well.

Gun is a British capture.

I think the stock has been cleaned.

It does look sanded, though not too bad. It looks like it was sanded just enough to make it smooth. My first rifle in the 1970's was an old Steven's ?? .22 and the stock had a rough finish, I sanded it with fine grit paper to make it smooth.. lol. The number under the butt plate is the day, week and year. I can't make out the numbers in the pic but for example, 5th day of the 31st week of 1941.

Anything else I should ask for pictures of to confirm that it's been sanded or not as opposed to carry wear? Im on the fence about it, if it's been sanded or cleaned I'm going to pass on it.

Depends on the price, for the uniqueness of being a British capture, I'd cut it some slack on the sanded stock front, as long as the price reflects it...cool gun!

Priced @ $1900, I have no idea what the British capture providence puts on it value wise.

IF it is all matching and correct otherwise, I'd try to beat them down to maybe $1700 based on stock, but if I had the money, for the coolness factor of being a British capture, I would likely pony up....these I believe were all captured in Africa....
