    Default Newbie buys a K98k

    Hi, lurked on and off for a while, finally bought a K98k, so in true newbie fashion, asking for your expert evaluation of what I bought. Hope it wasn't a disaster, thanks much guys.

    Welcome! Can you get a clearer picture on the bolt root? Brünn I font is really distinctive but it’s just kind of hard to see in the picture.

    Welcome. Looks like it could be a nice dot44, the unsanded stock looks good!

    Thanks, have been looking for years, but a decent K98k never crossed my path, until this weekend, hopefully it's legit.

    The rest of the rifle is super nice but that bolt body is bad I’m afraid to say.

    Is there evident bluing loss in the dings on the rear band?

    The bottom ding isn't a ding but part of the way the weld ended or started at the point. The top one is blued, but it's weird how it showed up in that picture.

    Bolt body bad, is that dangerous as far as firing or bad for value? I'm probably missing on both points. Thanks for the input.
