I ran into this gorgeous 1908 Model at my local gunshop, and she came home with me! We're getting along great even though she's over 100 years old. It really was love at first sight! I cant imagine our relationship ever ending.

the sling, unfortunately, pretty much disintegrated. I'll make up a replacement with the old hardware. Everything is numbered matching except the guard screws, they are unmarked. The cleaning rod is unnumbered that i can see, only marked with a small,"b". Beautiful bore; 7x57mm caliber.

I never thought I would lust. A 100YO.

What’s the story? These must have had a major refurbishment?

i have no idea. ive read that many of these 1908s were imported in unissued condition, some even had hang tags.
i havent found an import mark on this one yet. I havent had it out of the stock yet. Its a very fine rifle; definitely the best condition Mauser i have owned.

Many S. American contract guns can be found in near new condition. I saw recently somebody opened up a whole crate of brand spanking new Argentine 1909's I think it was. This example looks new to me. No refurb is evident.

I assumed that it was new but could not imagine how. Was this made in Brazil ? How many numbers does it have to match? I’m assuming not numbered as much like a German 1908 but curious.

Let me know if you know where there’s another one of those,! I will find room in the safe!

Keep your eye out! They turn up. DWM made the Brazilian rifles. As well as the Argentine Mausers. Mauser Oberndorf made the Peruvian 1909's, and FN made the Columbian ones.
