Can anyone shed light on this scope. Not sure if it's post war or restoration job. Any thoughts?
thanks a lot

Looks like a re-engraved Swedish contract Ajack scope to look like a SS scope. And all of this is topped with a reproduction LSR mount.

Looks like a fake to me. Mount definitely is. Shouldn't be a Long Side Rail with SS scope.

IMHO , it impossible to make a definite determination about the Scope from these 3 pics . The Focal Rings looks like it maybe from a Swedish Scope but that is not a certainty . The Pics of the SS Dienstglas marking are not clear enough to verify . There is no pic showing if there is Range Markings on Dial and what they are if any at all . There is one way to help verify if Tube is a Swedish Ajack Scope compare the Scope in question to this pic I attached the Swedish Contract Scopes have the Focal Adjustment Line and Dot Cut into the Tube . There are known examples that do not have Rifle Number on the Tube . IMO it irresponsible to say with certainty the Scope is bogus from 3 Poor Pics . IMO more pics needed . Best Regards

As for the Mount I agree that is not an Original .

Dave makes a good point about the scope. Better pictures when be needed to say 100% whether the scope is good or not. However, the mount is very certain a fake. And regardless of the scope being original or not, it would have never been on a LSR.

Serial Number

The scope serial is correct for a SS Ajack. A better picture of the Death Head on bridge would help. Mount as stated look repro.

The death head looks too clean and crisp to be genuine...now I think about it looks a bit comical .
thanks a lot

I really don't like it. I'd stear clear of this one. Scope tube is Swedish I think, because it has that line and dot like Dave described. The engraving on the dial saddle is close to my two scopes, but a little off in some areas. It's close, but I think there is enough wrong here to say it is a fake. I wouldn't buy it.

Those extra pics tell the whole story and without any doubt now in my mind its a Fake . The DH SS-Dienstglas Turret markings maybe original , I compared the markings to my SS-Diensglas Markings and they appear spot on . Its possible the Turret maybe and original Turret from an Original SS Ajack Scope but thats the only thing the Ajack and Serial Number on opposite side of Turret are also spot on.This shows how a few extra photos or not enough photos can be costly either way . Never too many photos as far as I am concerned . Best Regards

Ok, the at most times silent scope master has to have the last word. This scope is a fake. I have another with the same SN - also a fake - in my database.

Spitting image of the one I showed bar the engraving....I've also noticed on some ss dientglass scopes that the letter 'i' after the 'D' has a 'turn up' at it's base...I don't actually know what you'd call the font.
