1942 bcd/ar matching

#doomandgloom
Finally found what I believe is a correct all matching not late war K98k at a price I was comfortable with. Was really looking for a 1939 to early 1941, but I certainly will not complain about a 1942 duel code bcd/ar. Bore is great stock has some cracking in the lamination. I think this one sat in an attic or closet for many years. Seems unmessed with. These are the sellers pics I will try and get some better ones tomorrow.

Here is a pic I took in a group shot of what I picked up from FFL today. I have been on a bit of a lucky streak the last 3 weeks. All except K98k were won in a MeWe raffle group. I also won Finn M24 and M91 B Barrel, Remington 541X (listed for sale on trader) as well as .30-06 HXP Spam Can and 1200 round crate of Yugo 7.62x54r. If anyone is interested in raffle group shoot me a PM.

That's a great dual code, although there is some sort of issue with the front end...the front band is to far back, the bayo lug might be slid forward or something, but something is off...

I will check that out. Thank you.

That really is a great rifle to find, scarce too and very desirable by collectors. As much as we love to see these in pristine condition. I personally love the closet rifles that have been left untouched. With a little bit of patience, bronze wool, ballistol oil, and some TLC this rifle will clean up nicely.

Glad too see you get a nice one Kurt!

I think I was pulling the trigger regardless but your opinion made it definite. Thank you for taking a second look.

Band spring is present, Looks like the bayo lug is no longer pinned.

Ok it was a nightmare getting the bands off.

Edit: I now figured out the problem thanks to Mr Farb. The band spring was back too far.

It’s not too short, it’s too far back.

Thank you. After fighting so hard I wasn't thinking. Someone jammed the band spring under the rear band which explains why my fingers hurt so bad from compressing it. Now it is right.

The wood is dented in a 1/4" behind the front band from being forced back all these years. I'm still happy with it. I think I still got it at a good price.

I wouldn’t worry about it! Plenty show scars in that area! It’s a great looking rifle and not exactly easy to find!

That band spring looks like it has been with the rifle forever but I’m thinking it should have a machined unmarked spring for a ‘42 rifle. Nevertheless, it is a real find that I’d love to have. That was a lucky find wherever you got it. That thing will clean up really nice.

There are no markings on it.

Does indeed look like a nice score. Should clean up nice. What do you plan on using on the metal parts?
