Hey fellow forum members,
Can anyone tell me what is the correct length for a BYF 44 cleaning rod? Were the cleaning rods still serialized at this point in the war? Thanks for your assistace.

They were 12 1/2" for a byf44 and did not have sn's on them by this time.

I have a BYF 44 that's also missing the cleaning rod.

Generally a straight butt plate took the 10 inch rod and the cupped butt plates took the 12.5.

By end of 1938 (I think) they had moved the rod ferrule and made the rods 12.5", two years before cupped plates. May have been 1937, going by memory here.

I have an all matching 1939 a-block 243 with 10" rod.

Mentioned this rod topic just recently GunKraut. Have my dad's 1940 243 t-block that did retain the rod but is unmarked and of the 12 1/2 inch variety. Heard they were marked until around 1941. Could have been switched during bore cleaning. Mine also matches. Retrieved it from a building in a town the germans had retreated from while occupying or passing through.
