I recently acquired I.G. 71/84 No. 217 made by Mauser Oberndorff. This rifle is listed in the compilation above for this type of rifle.
The butt stock is not marked with any acceptance marks in the wood on the right side, as the other rifles are. However, it does not appear to have been sanded. There is no trace of the marks ever having been there. On the bottom of the butt, there is a very small W pressed into the wood. The barrel channel is marked 217.
This is one of three Mauser Oberndorff rifles listed in the 71/84 section. Do either of the others have no acceptance marks in the wood? i realize the sample is small.
