    One super easy way to tell if grips belong specifically on a cyq pistol is to count the “broken lines” around the grip screw. 5 “broken lines” always go on a cyq pistol.

    I would say the 5 “broken line” ”orange” cyq grips would be more for the earlier to mid war cyq pistols.

    Mike,
    * Nice 1st Var., ac'43. Think I see a hint of plum frame color to add to the trio's comparison.
    * As stated, it should be likely to exchange those Posselt grips for an equal conditioned pair of AEG grips without too much trouble. Not like finding the correct K98k stock manufacturer with exact s/n's and war eagles. I'd stick with a similar red, mottled color as they not only are period correct; but, show the diversity in color one sees in P38's. The "Grip" sticky in this handgun section gives more than enough info for background as does Darrin Weavers book on the German plastic industry products during WW2.
    * A Spreewerk in the "a to k" block should fill your 1943 "cyq" example if you are so inclined. Of course you would then need an ac'45 zero and a svw'45 "f" block to balance thing out. Trust me: acquiring P.38's is more habit forming than meth addiction (I'm told).
    * I'll keep an eye out for a '43 hard shell holster & spare mag for your next "fix".
    * Thanks for sharing.
    Bob

    Ok, pulled grips from the byf...they both have the symbol up top, with a 1W, and 41, so yes, Posselt...

    One has a 12 in circle, or had 7 in a circle...

    Yeap. Based on the color of the grips, I'd say C through maybe R or S? Every NLS/A/B I've seen has the AEG grips. I haven't kept records but I've yet to see one with it. Haven't paid much attention to the C blocks. As for the end, I've been watching the U blocks carefully (looking for the Wa barrels) and I know they generally do not have this color grip, usually it's the more solid colored. However, it would work since they show up sporadically after R/S.
    This is a piece that will be of extreme interest to any serious German Rifle collector.
