Picked up a project rifle for a little bit of nothing, and I’m curious where this falls out production wise. About how late did CGH make rifles?

CGH made rifles through 1918 and 1919 dated receivers exist. If remember correctly 1916 was the highest year with 1917 being close. Paul would know.

Ahh good to know, thanks! Not being too familiar with all the Suhl maker timelines I had to ask. I was wondering as well since that 17 Simson was deemed a late one.

Can you do pictures of the stock acceptance and whether it has a take down (washer-ferrule)? I see its beech with grips which is right, but stocks are important to my research.

CGH, JPS & VCS serialed collectively, meaning they shared ranges, the method employed is a little baffling, but this is a certainty. The Consortium managed to produce rifles to the q-block in 1917, there are two reports of R-blocks, but no confirmations. One is CGH and the other VCS, however due to the lower case e often being taken for an "R" I range production to the q-block in 1917. (though it is highly likely they went to the r-block because there are 9000 q blocks known and the reports of r-blocks are under 5000 range)

Nice Consortium rifles are difficult to find, they tend to be used up when found though can be found matching. Here is a link to a brief article I wrote about them regarding serialing and numbers made:
