no such thing as an M40 with 1st pattern decal... its an m35 with second pattern droop tail.

there are two types...referred to as snake leg and straight leg... This reference if to the retracted legs shape. Straight leg type are less common and were used basically one year. Then the more modern looking 2nd pattern decal shows up.

This also seems to only be on ET shells.. The Luftwaffe modernization happened in 38 where we see changes to insignia and daggers.

Helmet looks nice and some are unit marked on the inside of the leather liner.

All signs look good and the leather is correct for the year. 38-39 used aluminum with reinforced segments near the bails. Single banded liners had issues with breakage in there areas. Also what is the size ? This will have some bearing on the value... I don't agree with this but, I don't make the current rules.

It's a ET60

to be honest the size 60 helmet is as hard to find or harder than the 68 but, this stupid notion of larger helmets being worth more has really sunk in..

Some size 60 lids can be hard to sell and Its hard to say how hard ?? Honest value is around 1000.00 usd Luft. lids take a heavy back seat to Heer lids on the same condition.

Hope this helps.

Thank you
