Did some test shooting with my newly acquired IRA Gew-88 . The rifle is interesting because it left German service right before the start of WWI , so it is dated to 1914 German service . It has no S and the only updates are the cocking piece and the dot for the stronger barrel jacket nut solder . It has .003 clearance in the neck with a WWI S round . The rifle has a good original .321 barrel . All groups were 5-shot at 100 yards , averaged per load . It shot about 8 inches high with most loads . Hornady .321 170 fp 2050 fps = 3/ 2.33 . H .321 160 flex tip 2300 fps = 3/1.92 , at 1800 fps = 2/ 1.94 . The surprise the old Winchester 32 special .321 sliver tip 2100 fps 3/ 1.34 with one being the small group of the day at 0.96 . H 150 sp .323 at 1900 fps 4 / 1.84 . Norma .318 198 rn fmj at 2100 fps 1 / 4.38 . Now I will park the rifle and it's red hand stamp .
