Kar 88, VC Schilling, 1890, matching

Picked up this matching Kar 88 last Saturday. I ran out of light
but when I get it disassembled, I will add barrel data.

(Can anyone tell me why every picture is correct on my screen, but inverted when I post?)
***Edit. Apparently the inverted pictures problem is related to the photo software in an iPhone
not being compatible with many forums. In the future I will go back to using a conventional camera.

Hello runner,

thats a nice little carbine. Regarding the unit markings this K88 was first issed to the 2. Bavarian Uhlan (lancers) regiment and after its service there it was given to a
Bavarian Ersatz-Pferde-Depot (a sort of horse caretaking unit).

With kind regards

Vincent

Added the carbine to the study underway, nice addition! Great you took a picture of the bolt acceptance, do get the BC when you can, - and make sure the Beagle is in the background!

Paul,

Here are pictures of barrel markings and the SN inside stock channel.

Thank you for the translation of the unit markings. Would you mind taking a stab at two others? These are on two other carbines that I have.

Great carbine Runner and thank you for posting the detail pictures.

Been on the hunt for one of these little beauties but a nice one with no problems has eluded me for years.

No problem.

The first one is from the Bavarian 2. Chevaulegers-Regiment, 3. squadron, weapon no. 28. The Chevaulegers were a cavalry specific to the royal bavarian army.

The other is from the 16. Train-Bataillon, Ersatz Abtailung, weapon no. 62. The Train bataillons were the support units of the german armies.

With kind regards

Vincent
