Not so picky about the appearance at this point were they? I love it , fantastic bayonet. Thanks for posting.
" Hey, I got it from a long time dealer in Third Reich militaria years ago, so you know it`s real." Over heard comment at a table.

My example is from the v block. I am really liking the late war pieces as I collect more bayonets.

Love it. Getting close to the end for Carl Eickhorn. They went into the y block in 1944 .....

Very nice "corn cob" late Eickhorn. If you get into the end of the "y-bloc", final acceptance on the pommel may be absent. This is my late Eickhorn. Note eagle on pommel WaA was partially ground off due to finish machining (such as it is). I recall this piece as one I saw on a table @ the OGCA in the mid-1980s. Guy wanted 20 bucks for it. Back then, I usually would not look twice at a mismatch. However I came by the seller's table two more times as I worked through the show. On the third pass I looked at the bayonet one last time, and decided the condition and late serial number (highest for a cof44 I had seen at the time), warranted the $20.00, so bought it. Even thought of getting rid of it a couple of times afterwards, but I have it still...
