First, is it matching? Second, is it yours? I would consider not passing it on to him if you have interest in lugers. What you have is a first issue DWM made in 1909 they are very rare, they were produced midway through the 'B' Block around 25,000 or so were made. Outside of the 1902 and 1906 test guns they were the first standard issue lugers produced for the German Army. I don't think this would be an appropriate shooter, while the condition isn't the best, due to the scarcity of the gun I would refrain from using this as a regular range piece especially if it's matching. It's a nice honest gun.
