Hey all, picked this stock up out of a elderly collectors collection who is in failing health. Believe it is Argentine due to the band markings, but has no other stamps to ID it as such, other than a serial on the toe of the stock.

Argentine mauser stock

the stock looks to be the 1909 Argentine Engineer carbine stock (sometimes called the Engineer short rifle). if memory serves, they made about 10k all having an A prefix. if the handguard is correct, the opening for the rear sight is quite a bit shorter than a standard 1909 rifle sight.

I'll try to get better shots of the front end and handguard tomorrow...

Is the heel of the stock the right area for serial? Most argys I see have number on the right side.

Its not an Argentine Standard Model 1933 or FN1935. Could be FN1924 with incorrect handguard? Was there an Argentine FN1930? I don't see one in Websters book, but I do seem to remember something about one being discussed.

Any acceptance marks anywhere on the outside of the stock? Any marks inside the handguard?
