Byf 43, need repair recommendations

By that time, this manufacturer had stopped marking both barrel and receiver. It's 100% ok.

Over the last couple months I was fortunate enough to have BruceK do some preservation work in the duffel cut area of my rifle, let alone get the stock to him and back by USPS with it still intact...!
I now feel no reservations about shooting it for fear of the forend dropping off
Just wanted to acknowledge BK's willingness to help and post some repeat pics, maybe get a feel for value? ..which I only have a general idea yet. I have no intentions of selling this rifle.
All stamped numbers match, handguard is unnumbered, cleaning rod is repro. No import marks. Duffel cut stock as mentioned. Bruce tells me the stock was lightly sanded and shellaced or something at some point but its still in good shape in my eyes. Bore is excellent no pitting.
Shes a tack driver of course :biggrin1:

Not sure about this. There have been reports a few years ago of hardware store Mauser bought in the 60's having been duffle cut by someone 40+ years later to add some "provenance" and pass them off as G.I. bringbacks, at a premium, of course.

I have the same type of rifle from block h and found this on the underside of the barrel along with an "H", an "Fyt" under the reciever and under that an indented "A"
