Did Philly Cat find this I wonder?

Just curious what is Philly Cat? Also I assume that is not legit?

Put more effort on the painting the name on the inside of the lid than the camo on the outside of the lid. I would think that the thickness of the camo paint would have been worn down over all these years.

One of the hucksters claimed that a bunch of his trash finds came from some “philly cat” who went through trash cans or something and would call him.

Where's the choir over there chirping and gushing "wow" and "one looker" and "I wish it was mine but..." and " :thumbsup: " ? Was everyone questioning beat down, censored, and banned long ago? Of course the Van Gogh blotches would have nice sharp edges sticking up because this is an "exotic freshie," the most absurd term ever coined in collecting history to justify that which is questionable. There were several fish back when who would jump on lids like this based upon the choir songs, but they evidently bailed out of kamo kollecting and there are none left to jump at this one. All just my opinions of course.

I think it makes a fine Easter egg type camo, perfect for staying concealed in a field of freshly painted Easter eggs. Wow I think I just created a new term to replace exotic freshie.

Very astute to point out the high ridges and points on the paint that should have long since been knocked off or worn smooth. Other problems:

1) The exterior camo condition does not match the well worn interior and liner;
2) The colors don't look quite right on the camo;
3) If you look close, it appears as if the kamo blotches are carefully painted around old wear to the helmet's original finish. A dead giveaway on fakery is camo over old wear and no wear on the camo.

The best humpjobs are on original helmets. In this case, a not terribly hard to find Luftwaffe helmet in average condition in an undesirable size 62 (it's a small size but not THE smallest size 60) goes from a $450-550 lid to $3000 asked with some strategically placed Van Gogh textured blotches and perhaps even the name to sex it up, which also looks unusual. All my opinions of course. For comparison:

2 killer lids HB, the thread helmet looks like a kid with some yellow paint tried to camo grandpops war souvenir

First time I have seen a name written in that font/style. My spider senses tell me to walk away. If I am going to get an example of a highly faked item I would want the norm, not the exception.
