byf 43

I just picked this byf43 floorplate m/m up yesterday. It's had a bit of a run through this community, BiO sold it to agalland who sold it to me.
It's a bit of a "boring" (to some) standard rifle but I love the furniture and bright red glue.

Note the giant front sight post, not sure why that's there. I've never seen such a large one on a k98k. Last pic is byf43 on the right (repro hood) and my dot 1944 with a more typical front sight post.

The front sight base seems original but the bluing is a tad too vibrant on the sight blade, almost purple...I think it is a postwar replacement for accuracy purposes.

I can't convey the difference in bluing in these pics but they do show how large it is.

On that note if anyone has spare original front sight blades with moderate wear, I need one.
Same for cleaning rods and sight hoods, I have some originals but they don't match the wear of this rifle.

Yup, same sight Bob. It has the horizontal lines in the front. I imagine whoever had it before us decided to swap the front blade out. Every single piece of this bolt has the full 5 digits, even the cocking piece.
