K98k Laminate Stock Date and Supplier Codes

Thank you Aaron. I rather assume the stock is from a 1937 Oberndorf, I wish the block would be visible at the bottom of the serial number.

The serial number alone was very difficult to get to show on camera, needed very specific lighting. I'll see if I can find letter block once I'm home. Under the BP is near jet black and is very rough, no markings left intact.

Do you need more for your research?

Also has anyone figured out what the “P” stands for on the lower grip area?

Yes, every data is important for our research and it would be great if you share yours.

Here is a thread about the "P" marking: Link

Regards,
Stephan

I still haven’t gotten any pics of the Erma I mentioned months ago but here are some pics of my 1941 Mauser Berlin rifle. Serial is 8260 C, P marked on the keel, 2 2 1941 stock date, Kr supplier code.

Hi Stephan-

243 1940
Sn 7588 g
Under buttplate 1 4 40 Kr
"P" under stock grip

Interesting thread

That's interesting, as only yesterday I picked up my new K98 and it's only a few thousand in number after your's but I've just looked under the buttplate and the stock is completely unmarked?

Mine is:
243 1940
Sn 9282 g
And is also a "P" under the stock grip.
It's appears to be all matching except the bolt, although the buttplate has some funny markings on it, and upon taking it off it has a '41' stamped on the inside, so guessing the buttplate may not be original either.

Following on from my post above, I pulled it apart today to see if there were any markings inside.

It looks like it a Br code in the barrel channel, but can't see any completion date codes anywhere?

While I was pimping my sh*t today I noticed the glue type P and date code. I didn't capture the laminate code. 1940 3642 e block. 7.50.39 is the date.

keel.jpgdate code.jpg

I guess it's a Mauser Berlin? Is it a Heer or Kriegsmarine rifle? It's one block before the Sweden deliveries.

Stephan it's a Feinmechanische and a Heer rifle. I was going to check for laminate code in the barrel channel.

BCD 43 Stock Code

Here is my stock code. BCD 43 rifle. All matching including stock. 8689b Br 5-36-42?

What month is "50"? I have a byf41 with a date code 3 78 40.
That is week, not month. So for mine it was the 7th day of the 50th week of 1939. I'm thinking yours is possible 48 as there's obviously no 78th week in a year. German 1 looks very much like a 7 but that's early in 1940 to be on a '41 I'd think.

I snapped a photo. It doesn't help that one of the digit is a overstrike, but as much as I try i can't see that digit being a "4". If anything it might be a "0", so 30 8 40 on a rifle on the ff block? It doesn't explain why it would have been left uncorrected in the top handguard. For what it is worth the overstrike appears legit.

The stock number is 7902 and looks original. Can anyone make out the other stamping? Bo possibly? Haven’t taken off butt plate, worried about screwing something up or not being able to get it back on.
