Greetings all - I'm new to the forum, but have been lurking for a while! In doing some reading about SS reworks of GEW98 rifles, there is a particular proof mark that I've seen in multiple photos of multiple different rifles, but I haven't been able to find any info about it online. It appears to be and "F" overlapped with an "S" or maybe a "T" overlapped with an "S". It always seems to be on the left side of the rifle on the rearmost part of the barrel where it screws into the receiver. I've seen it only in photos of Totenkopf stamped GEW98s. I've attached a few photos and am hoping some of you might be able to let me know what the proof mark means, who put it there, if it's unique only to certain reworks, etc.
Sincere thanks for your help -
Steve
