Early Eickhorn HJ Knife

Picked up my second HJ Knife, an early one as it has the logo and the non-reinforced ricassio. Let me know what you think. It is a shame that the scabbard was repainted at some point. But overall it is nice as the logo is clear, there is a retailer mark on it, and the condition of the over all Knife is nice.

Not the demonic squirrel... And I wonder if anyone has thoughts on the other inscription 'A. Muhling'?

Certainly not the demon squirrel, more like the cartoon squirrel. My favorite is the Art Deco squirrel. I was told it was the retailer mark. If anyone can confirm and say something about the retailer that would be great.

Thanks Spiel. Totally see it now. 'an der' is very similar to the more familiar 'am'.

It's a grammar thing.

"an der" means "at the", followed by a feminine object. Example: "Frankfurt an der Oder" - "Frankfurt at the Oder (River)"

"am", shortened for "an dem", means "at the", followed by a masculine or neutral object. Example: "Frankfurt am Main" - "Frankfurt at the Main (River)"
