Spanish Police Mauser ?

I read somewhere that this is a Spanish Fascist Police rifle.
Is this true?? When were these rifles produced??

Are these fairly rare,...I've been looking and buying/selling milsurps for +15 years, and this is the first one of these I have run across?
I took this one to a show a few weeks ago, and most of the dealers were unsure of its origin and what the heck it is.

Can someone tell me when these Spanish rifles were made??
I plan to take the smaller upper stock off this weekend (if time permits) to see if there are additional markings.

I think these are post war, but I've never heard of anybody that collects them to know, they always seem to be the cheapest Mauser you can buy, even cheaper than Turked Gew98's.

This post on gunboards has some good info. But some conflicting views.

The overall consensus is that it is a "La Guardia civil" marked rifle. It is a large ring spanish m43. But most are not marked like this. The marking is way more common on earlier spanish 1916 rifles. I believe they didnt start using this symbol until 1943.

If you look closely some of these receivers are reworked Gew98, off rifles supplied by Germany to Franco during the Spanish Civil War. Most are new build and of post WW2 manufacture.
