The weather is quite nice today so I thought I'd try my hand at learning to take better quality firearms pictues. And it also gives me an oppportunity to share one of the nicer conditon rifles in my collection. Any critiques of my camera work is also much appreciated!

Others use flash to fill in shadows, but I recommend indirect light (shade or overcast sky) rather than direct sun to avoid the shadows.

Thanks for the tip. I didnt even think about shadows. I focused on trying to make the markings easy to read and the colors look as they do in real life.

Probably good to do both! Most pictures with good indirect lighting and then a few less staged. Bob's got a point for those pesky shadows but it's quite annoying when you can't tell what the color of the metal/wood is in ambient light (aka if you had it in hand) because none of the pics are in ambient light.
Very cool rifle nonetheless, I like the wood and the sling goes very well with it. Cool serial number too,I like J.P. Sauer for their odd Fraktur "Mod".

I have quite the soft spot for J. P. Sauer as well. I just couldn't pass when I saw this one come up. Its definitely one of the favorites in my collection.
